The Hambacher Forst is an old forest in the west of Germany. This space is currently being destroyed to make space for a lignite coal mine. For many decades residents and activists have been resisting the destruction of their property and the nature around it.
In 2012, a small group of activists built treehouses in the forest in order to stop the clearing. Now entire villages span the whole territory.
As part of a university project, these pictures have been taken in January 2018 at the outer border of the forest.
